I trained in medicine believing the work would speak for itself. It does, but only inside the institution. Outside, nobody could say what I was good at, because nothing about it existed in public.
When I moved into HealthTech, I saw why. The academics advising companies, sitting on boards, and speaking on stages were rarely the strongest researchers I knew. They were simply the ones the market could find. Capability was not the filter. Legibility was. So I learned the other side. I did an MBA, studied marketing deeply, and started Teknon Labs, a HealthTech marketing agency that has helped hundreds of businesses navigate healthcare.
Known Doctors is what I wish had existed then. A team that takes a researcher's real expertise, decides what it should be known for, and builds the public record that makes the right people call first.
You gave years to training and to the work itself. You review, you teach, you publish. And still, the way to earn more is another grant cycle or another teaching load.
Meanwhile a company working on your exact topic is paying someone to advise them. Not because they understand it better than you. Because their name came up and yours did not.
That is the whole gap. Not rigour, not effort. Findability. We work out where your expertise is genuinely worth money outside the university, and we build the public record that makes the right people call you first.
Good. Most of the researchers I respect would rather not perform on camera, and I would never ask them to. Several people we work with will never post weekly, and it will not cost them a thing.
Loud is one strategy. Quiet is another: becoming the specific person a company pays to advise them, the name a journalist keeps in their contacts, the researcher a scientific board wants in the room.
We build around who you actually are, not around a personal-brand playbook copied from someone selling courses.
This is not an exit plan. Most of the people we work with have no intention of leaving academia.
Nothing goes out that you would be uncomfortable saying out loud, or defending in front of peers.
No invented numbers, no borrowed logos, no implied guarantees.
Years of research judgement can create value in rooms far outside the department. Most of it is never packaged.
Visibility and authority matter because of what they lead to: paid advisory work, scientific boards, consulting income, better roles.
We start from your ambitions, personality and appetite for visibility, then design the strategy.
We publish verified outcomes only. No borrowed logos, no invented numbers, no implied guarantees.
This is not an exit strategy. Many of the academics we work with have no intention of leaving their post.
One strong position beats a content calendar. We do less, and we do it properly.
